Information Commissioner's Data Protection Practitioners' Conference
Dave Parsons, the WASPI Code Manager recently spoke at the prestigious Information Commissioner’s Data Protection Practitioners’ Conference, on the challenges and successes of every day data sharing.
Each year, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) hosts its annual Data Protection Practitioners’ Conference (DPPC), a flagship event bringing together data protection professionals from across sectors to share insights, best practices, and emerging trends.
This year’s #DPPC2025 took place online on 14 October 2025 and was the best-attended conference the ICO has ever hosted, with over 6,500 professionals joining from across the UK and beyond.
It was an honour to be invited by the regulator to take part as a panellist in one of the day’s sessions, “Everyday Data Sharing,” hosted by the ICO. I joined three other professionals for what proved to be an engaging discussion exploring the challenges of data sharing but also the models of support availably to support practitioners across the UK. The session allowed Wales to spotlight its success in this area through the Wales Accord on the Sharing of Personal Information (WASPI) with examples of how the framework in Wales has supported areas of work through Integrated Family Services as well as through effective data sharing during the covid-19 pandemic.
