WASPI and Piccaso Awards

The Wales Accord on the Sharing of Personal Information (WASPI) team, part of Digital Health and Care Wales, has achieved a remarkable feat by being shortlisted for three prestigious PICCASO Awards Europe 2025.

This significant recognition from Europe's leading awards in data privacy, information security, and compliance underscores WASPI's pioneering efforts and commitment to excellence in responsible data sharing for over 20 years.

WASPI has been shortlisted in the highly competitive categories of "Best Privacy Programme Award," "Data Governance & Record Management Programme of the Year," and "Privacy Team of the Year: Public Company". This triple accolade is a testament to WASPI's comprehensive excellence, acknowledging its strategic framework, robust operational model, and the efforts of the team in advancing data sharing.

The nominations come during WASPI’s 20th anniversary year, with the team celebrating the positive change in culture and collaboration that WASPI has achieved over this time. WASPI has helped organisations in Wales share personal information effectively and lawfully in areas such as health, education, safety and crime prevention.

Dave Parsons, WASPI Service Manager, responded to the nominations by stating that “the nominations are a great achievement and recognises the commitment of the WASPI Service and WASPI’s stakeholders over 20 years in ensuring that its impact in smashing barriers and obstacles to lawful data sharing is undiminished. In fact, WASPI is going from strength to strength”.

This commitment to citizen-centric innovation through robust data protection is at the heart of WASPI's success. The PICCASO Awards Europe 2025 winners will be announced at a ceremony on 11 November 2025, in London, a celebration of the collective achievements of the privacy and data protection community in Europe.

The WASPI team eagerly anticipates the event, proud of this significant recognition and proud to be leading the way in secure and ethical data sharing for the benefit of the people of Wales.
