Cwm Taf Regional Quality Assurance Group

Meet the Chair

The Cwm Taf Regional QA group is chaired by Ryan James of Merthyr County Borough Council.

Ryan says that he’s “personally invested in WASPI because I believe that responsible data sharing is essential to delivering joined up public services. Improved collaboration not only enhances service delivery but also builds trust with the individuals whose data we handle. WASPI provides a clear framework that supports transparency, accountability, and consistency — values I strongly advocate for in my role. By working together, we can ensure that personal information is shared safely and appropriately, enabling better outcomes for our communities”.

The QA Group provides a level of assurance that any information sharing protocols organisations are signing up to have been reviewed by individuals within experience in Information Governance.

The Cwm Taf QA group is responsible for:

Strategic Signoff: Granting the final assurance and approval of regional ISPs so that they can be used by partners in their region.

Local intelligence: Identifying if a proposed data flow fits existing local arrangements or strategic partnerships.

Maintaining Trust: Acting as the guardians of public trust by ensuring sharing is transparent and proportionate for the citizens in their area.

The Cwm Taf QA Group benefits from having members drawn from all the major information sharing organisations in the region, who bring their experience of real-world data protection compliance to the discussion of each Information Sharing Protocol.
